OVERVIEW

When you can't read your Kindle books, you can listen to your books by adding Audible narration. With Whispersync for Voice, you can switch seamlessly between reading your Kindle books and listening to Audible narration in the Kindle App. It is a feature that allows you to continue listening to any WfV-enabled books on multiple devices without losing your place. Whispersync for Voice is available on Kindle Apps for Android, iOS, and Fire Tablet devices.

You can just put on your headphones, tap the button, and keep the story going… in the car, at the gym, in the kitchen, or wherever you are. Whenever your eyes are occupied but your mind is free, your story is always ready for listening.

Experience Immersion Reading

Read and listen simultaneously along with real-time highlighting. It's officially called Immersion Reading and it immerses you in a story by narrating and highlighting the text as you read. It sparks an extra connection that boosts engagement, comprehension, and retention as it takes you deeper into the book.

Immersion Reading is great for children learning to read, readers learning English as a second language, and anyone looking to boost their reading comprehension.

Problem Statement

Kindle users would like to continue the story even in the multi-task environment by seamlessly switching between reading and listening. Whether they are commuting, working out, or doing household chores, stories will follow wherever.

User Goal

  • As a Kindle user, I would like to listen to my story wherever I go—while driving, running, or cooking.

Business Goals

  • Whispersync for Voice's mission is to expose Kindle customers to audiobooks by introducing its technology.

  • Introduce Audible companions to Kindle readers.

  • Show a subtle introductory upsell that does not interrupt the primary reading experience.

  • Efficiently allow Kindle users to sample and add Audible Narration to their Kindle books.

Scenario
Anna recently purchased a WfV-enabled Kindle book on Amazon.com. As she opens her book on Fire Tablet, she discovers a widget that allows adding Audible Narration to her book. She learns more about the feature and decides to add narration to her Kindle book.  


CX DIAGRAM

Designed an in-line Audible upsell widget within the Kindle reader view. In the widget, the user can sample and purchase the Audible Narration without being shifted to a different screen.


DISCOVERING AUDIBLE NARRATION

By default, WfV-enabled kindle books will have an Audible Narration upsell widget natively integrated with the reader view. It’s designed specifically to avoid appearing intrusive during the reading experience. If it is recognized as a bothersome element, the user can simply dismiss it by simply tapping on the headphone icon at the bottom right corner.

Users can tap the cover art to play the Audible sample.

LEARN MORE

Users can tap the 'Audible Narration' link to access the product detail page. On the page, the user can learn about the feature and explore more WfV-enabled titles.

PURCHASING

Users can simply add Audible Narration by tapping the purchase CTA. User’s not taken to a separate transactional page. Purchase flow is an in-line experience and the reader screen remains undisturbed.

PLAYING NARRATION

After the narration is fully downloaded, an upsell widget turns into a mini-player that controls narration playback. Users can also access the full Audible player by tapping on the cover art.
