PAIN POINTS
The current Vanguard app is not fully optimized for larger (tablet) devices
Design components endlessly scale and fill up the extra screen space
The current app doesn’t support landscape orientation and this causes experience frictions with our Red (active) investors
EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES
Provide and encourage fluid navigation
Display key portfolio information at a top level by reducing the number of tap actions
Creating an opportunity to test the scalability and fluidity of our design components
Take advantage of the native iOS split view feature to provide a richer display of relevant portfolio data

RESEARCH
Unmoderated testing of the prototype with 10 clients on iPads
Split Screen View
All clients favor the split-screen view
They like the reduction in click rate the view enables
The preference is constant across the portfolio and transact screens
Portfolio and Account Details
Clients like the "surprising" level of detail given the "uncluttered" and "clean" presentation
The graphs are visually appealing and easy to understand
Clients appreciate the option for time period displays
Transact
Navigating through the 'transact' button is not intuitive
Clients expect to enter from the account details screen
Once on 'transact', the buy flow is easy to complete
CLIENT QUOTES
UPCOMING RESEARCH
Interviews with clients who have used the iPad app multiple times in the last 3 months
Device usage survey planned for the beginning of January
